 Active-Semi Participates in 2009 3G CDMA Conference Active-Semi, a leading supplier of integrated power management solutions for mobile handsets, participated in the 2009 3G CDMA Conference, held in Hangzhou on 23-September-2009 Active-Semi's participation culminated when PMU Marketing Manager Simon Liu joined Via Communications, China Telecom, HTC, and other industry-leaders in a round table discussion regarding a wide range of topics regarding 3G CDMA in China. Active-Semi's Liu closed the round-table discussion with a detailed synopsis of how product differentiation will help drive 3G applications. Liu stated that "In the emerging 3G market, terminal vendors will find many opportunities to make differentiated products. First, unique software user interfaces significantly differentiate products in ways that can not easily copied." As an example, Liu cited Apple's highly successful iPhone(TM), which gained popularity in part due to the entirely new user experiences it brings to customers. Liu continued "Second, battery life is becoming increasingly important as smart phones increase multimedia and networking functions." Liu noted that careful power management design, consisting of both the voltage regulators themselves as well as the way that power is utilized within the system, can significantly extended battery life and that Active-Semi and other leading power management suppliers are providing advanced power management functions to acheive this goal. Liu concluded "Third, we have seen an increase in 'payment features' in mobile phones, which consist of everything from point-of-sale transactions to 'pay-for-service' features. These features increase the consumer's utilization of the mobile terminal, and provide significant potential for innovation."
